Indiana Clinical and Translational Science Institute

In May 2008, The National Institutes of Health awarded a $25 million five-year Clinical and Translational Science Award to the Indiana University School of Medicine, designed to fund critical and collaborative translational research activities at IU, Purdue and Notre Dame through a newly created Indiana Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI). IU School of Medicine is one out of only 50 research institutions in the nation to receive this prestigious and highly competitive funding.

To leverage the reach of this CTSI, these federal dollars will be supplemented by another nearly $60 million from BioCrossroads Board members Indiana University, Purdue University, the State of Indiana, Eli Lilly and Co. and the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation, Inc. in a true spirit of collaboration. Additionally, Eli Lilly and Company and WellPoint are working directly with the CTSI in the development of new public-private initiatives in disease modeling and health economics. At its core, the CTSI is a public-private partnership extending beyond basic research to develop specific programs that can help deliver better healthcare and better health outcomes to Hoosiers – and to all Americans.
